Bio

Sylvia B. Kaplan, 92 years, of Fremont, NE formerly of Morse Bluff, NE died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. Sylvia was born October 24, 1920 in Prague, NE to Wencl and Caroline (Tomsicek) Hanis. She grew up on a farm near Plasi, NE. She married George Kaplan on Oct. 24, 1939 in Lincoln, NE. He died July 11, 1986. After her marriage, she lived at Morse Bluff. She worked as an aide at Birchwood Manor in North Bend. She had been residing at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont for the past 7 years. Sylvia was a member of St. George Catholic Church at Morse Bluff. She is survived by son, George Kaplan of Omaha; daughter & son-in-law, Carol and Doug Haase of Fremont; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Kaplan; and 5 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral service, 10:30 AM, Friday, December 21st at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, NE. Father Jeremy Hazuka will officiate.l Visitation Thursday 3 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends on Thursday from 5 PM to 7 PM all at the funeral home. Visitation on Friday 1 hr prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Killian Cemetery near Morse Bluff.
