Bio

Van Allen Barnes 1920 ~ 2012 Van Allen Barnes, age 92, passed away peacefully on 12/12/12 surrounded by his loving family. Van was born to Jesse Barnes and Elizabeth Jacobs on 9/9/20 and was raised in Lehi, UT with his two brothers, Milo and Don (Fletcher), and his two sisters, Verla and Meirl. After graduating from Lehi High School in 1938, Van served in the US Army during World War II in Tunisia, Italy and France. After his time in the armed forces, he attended Utah State University and later met his wife Thelma Cedarstrom. With Thelma, Van was blessed with three daughters: Joanne, Belva and Rosa. Van raised his family in Pleasant Grove where he worked as a millwright for Geneva Steel for 35 years. Van was also was an avid farmer. He was a devoted son, brother, father and grandparent who dedicated his life to his family. In addition to his three daughters, Van had nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Van is survived by his sister Meirl Busk and his daughters Joanne Parker and Rosa Lee Barnes.A viewing will be held Monday 12/17/12 at 11am, followed by a memorial service at 12pm at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
