Bio

Mary M. Kolund, 85 years of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012 at the Pathfinder House in Fremont. Mary was born August 11, 1927 in Lynch, NE to Charles and Edna (Streit) Courtney. She grew up at rural Lynch NE. She graduated from Creighton High School and then received her teaching certificate. She married Clarence Kolund on August 21, 1946 in Lynch, NE. They farmed near there until coming to the Fremont area in 1964. They lived in Hooper from 1973 until 1986 when they returned to Fremont. Clarence passed away July 19, 2011. Mary worked at the Brestwood Inn Restaurant and at Weinberg's as a seamstress. She owned The Tailor Shop in Fremont and then worked at JP Originals and then out of her home doing alterations and seamstress work. She was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, Catholic Daughters and the Jalapa Club in Hooper. She is survived by her sons, Bruce Kolund and wife Donna of Fremont and Eugene Kolund of Trumbull, NE; daughters, Donna Eckhart of Fremont and Marilyn Blevins and husband Fred of Omaha; brother, Robert Courtney and wife Marvene of Lynch, NE; sister, Sharon Bruegman and husband Ken of Bristow, NE; son-in-law Ron Schroll of Ravenna, NE; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by; her parents; daughter, JoAnn Schroll 12/8/12; brothers, Richard and Fay Courtney; sister, Joann Courtney; grandson, Christopher Schroll and son-in-law, Chris Eckhart. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 and Rosary Service at 9:00 A.M. Monday both at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. Rev. Jim Keiter will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-5 P.M and family will receive friends from 3-5 P.M all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
