Bio
Herbert J. Shamard Sr., 83, of Taylor passed away on Dec. 5, 2012, at his home. Herbert was born on July 27, 1929, to Joe and Mary Shamard in Hamilton, Texas. Herbert married Elizabeth Youngquist in Bastrop on Dec, 22, 1951. Herbert served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952 and was extremely proud of his service to his country. He was later employed by the Texas Department of Transportation for 38 years. Herbert is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Elaine Shamard, and his parents, Joe and Mary Shamard. Herbert is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years Elizabeth Youngquist Shamard; his son Herbert Shamard Jr. of Llano, Texas; his daughter Karen Marie Shamard of Hutto; and his grandson Herbert J. Shamard III, of Taylor. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the caring doctors, technicians and other staff of Scott and White Hospital in Temple. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home on Friday December 7. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home on Saturday Dec. 8. Married to Elizabeth "Tootsie" Youngquist.
