Life-Lon Resident Of East Navarro Was Buried on Sunday KERENS, Jan. 26.--(Spl.)-- Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the family home for John Simms, 56, who died Saturday at 10 p.m. after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Simms was born at Bazette, and had spent his entire life in that community and in Kerens, moving here in 1913, and opening the Simms Barber shop, which he owned and operated until the past Christmas. He was married to Miss Eva Lancaster of Bazette in 1909. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Hortense Simms Fuller of Nacogdoches, who with Mrs. Simms survive. Deceased is also survived by one brother, Ed deceased is also survived by one brother, Ed Simms of Corsicana; two sisters, Mrs. M. F. Allbritton of Childress and Mrs. J. S. Albritton of Alvin. Services were conducted by the Corsicana Church of Christ minister, Rev. Mr. Thompson who was assisted by Rev. Joe N. Everheart, pastor of the Kerens Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Bernard McCord, Methodist pastor of Caddo. Interment was in Prairie point Cemetery, under the direction of P. N. Stockton funeral home. Active pallbearers were H. O. DeJarnett, L. H. Holt, John Kyser, Marvin McClung, H. A. Quaite, J. N. Inmon, J. A. Paschal and Howell Brister. Honorary pallbearers with the many friends of Mr. Simms whose shop was a favorite meeting place for young and old alike. Among the large group of out-of-town relatives and friends for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Wilson, Mr. and Mrs.Mickey Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Birdsong of Kaufman, Robert Allbritton Childress, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fuller, W. A. Fuller, G. C. Fuller, D. J. Jasper of Nacogdoches, Mrs. M.
