James Thomas "Tom" Sims Dec 7, 1880 - Dec 31, 1938 Kerens Man Buried On Last Sunday KERENS, Jan. 7.—(Spl.) Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church on Sunday, January 1, at 1:30 p.m. for Tom Simms, 57, a native of Kerens for the past 30 years, he having been born and reared in Bazette. Mr. Simms is survived by his wife and six children, Mrs. Doris Edwards, Mrs. Dean Kent, Miss Sylvester Simms of Texas City, Jimmie Lois and Billie Simms of Kerens, and Jack Simms of Galveston. Two brothers, John Simms, and Edd Simms of Corsicana; two sisters, Mrs. M. F. Albritton, Childress, and Mrs. J. C. Albritton, of Alvin. Pallbearers were H. A. Quauite, J. A. Paschael, L. Murphey, Fay Redford, Eddie Smith, and Bob Ford. Services were conducted by Rev. M. O. Cheek, pastor of the church of which Mr. Simms had been a member for several years. Interment was in the Prairie Point cemetery under the direction of the P. N. Stockton Funeral Home. Among those from out of town who attended the services were: Bob Albritton, Childress; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Watt, Miss Fannie Kirk, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simms and family of Corsicana.
