Funeral services for W. Garland Forrest, 90, of Huntington will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Reverend Michael Reese officiating. Interment will follow in the Ivy Cemetery. Mr. Forrest was born July 27, 1922 in Huntington, Texas to the late Joshua Travis and Novie (Walker) Forrest, and died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in a local nursing home. He was a lifetime resident of Huntington. Mr. Forrest served in the U.S. Army and retired from Texas Foundries following 19 years of employment. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Garvis and Wanda Forrest and Frederick Allen and Kathie Forrest; grandsons, Greg Duane Forrest and Mitchell Forrest; sisters and brother-in-law, Nona Cartwright, Emily Stanberry, Marceil Waltman, and Novie Lou and Doug Blankenship; brother and sister-in-law, Jess and Betty Forrest; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Mayes) Forrest. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Huntington. Carroway Funeral Home, Huntington, directors. * obit edited
