Mr. Bartle had been suffering from severe hemorrhage of the nose for several days which was much aggravated by a severe cold that settled on his lungs, producing pneumonia, from which he died. Mr. Bartle was 45 years old at his death. He came from Minnesota to Nebraska in 1879 and located at Grand Island where he worked for S. N. Wolbach, coming to St. Paul when Wolbach established a store here. In 1884 he began business for himself and has ever been known as a good business man. Mr. Bartle was universally respected and honored for his big heartedness. In 1881 he married Miss Veronica Kavan of Saunders County. Four children came to bless them, Frankie, Emma, Edward and Clara. The oldest boy, Frankie, died about ten years ago. In the death of Mr. Bartle the family lose a loving husband and kind father, and the community a good citizen.
