Fletcher Funeral Saturday Funeral services for Elizabeth Jeanette "Betty" Fletcher, Glasco, were Saturday, March 9, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dean Funeral Home, Glasco, with Pastor Phyllis Nungester, Glasco Christian Church, officiating. Elizabeth Jeanette "Betty" Fletcher, one of three children born to James Lloyd and Harmoine Capron Fletcher, was born March 11, 1917 at Glasco, KS. Death came on Wednesday, March 6, 1991, at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, KS at the age of 73 years. Although "Betty," as she was known was born and raised in Glasco, she spent her adult life living in Kansas City. She was a graduate of Glasco High School and continued her education for one year at Fort Hays State University. Betty lived in Kansas City for many years. She attended a business college and was an advertising executive for the Bruce Brewer Company. She returned to Glasco to care for her mother and upon her death decided to retire here. A friendly, outgoing person, Betty enjoyed her work in advertising. She was able to make friends rather easily. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Betty also enjoyed music. She was an accomplished pianist, studied at the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and enjoyed listening to music. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, June Oliver. Left to mourn her passing is her sister, Marjorie Fletcher of Wichita, and many friends. Music was furnished by Judy Wyatt, soloist, and Mrs. Marilyn Harwood, organist. Casket Bearers were Bob Chestnutt, R.A. McDonald, Nathan Thompson, Rob Thompson, Frank Williams, Squeak Wolf. Interment was in Glasco Cemetery, Glasco, Kansas. *********************** A short obit was found in the Salina Journal, Thursday, March 7, 1991, page 9. It contained the same basic information with this addition: "Memorials may be made to the Kansas State University Center for basic cancer research."
