Bio
Edward Merle Bright of Forsyth died quietly in his home on Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at 2:45 pm. Edward was born January 23, 1922 in Wayne County, Illinois the son of Edward and Floy Comstubble Bright. He attended Southern Illinois University graduating with a degree in education. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific on a Landing Craft Support (LCSN) as an engineer officer. After retiring from active duty he remained in the Naval Reserves until 1982. In 1947, he received a Masters degree at Indiana State University. He taught mathematics in Palestine, Illinois and Fairfield, Illinois before moving to Decatur in 1955. He retired from teaching mathematics at Eisenhower High School in 1982. After retiring from teaching he traveled and helped his wife in her antiques business. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending time with his family. Edward was a member of several educational organizations, the Military Officers Association of America and other military organizations. Surviving are his wife, Julia; sons, Jim Bright and wife Kelly of Norman, Oklahoma; Paul Bright and wife Linda of Houston, Texas; daughters, Sara Ross and husband Blake of Pleasant Plains, Illinois; and Laura Moon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter in-law Renee Bright of Owasso, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Jim and Ellen Ross; Todd, Miles, Willem and Jack Bright; Julia Moon and Amy Bright; Brothers, Clinton of Boston, Massachusetts, Stanley of McLeansboro, Illinois; Sisters Doris and husband Alman Bridges of Forsyth, Illinois; twin sister, Pearl Lafont of Hardwick, Vermont.
