Received Oklahoma Confederate Pension Married Sarah Leacise Yates (Yeats) on 22 Jul 1869 in Pope County, Arkansas Married Ophelia Pack (b. about 1855; d.?) 24 Jan 1892 in Hope, Indian Territory ∼ Calvin Smith, aged 81, died Monday at 3:20 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. White, 717 West Eight. A service was held this afternoon by his comrades of the Civil war and the body made ready to be taken to Comanche for burial. ------------------------------------------------------------ Obituary of Calvin Smith in The Comanche Reflex, (Comanche, Oklahoma) on Thursday, Nov 3, 1927 Calvin Smith Dead At the ripe old age of three score and 20, Calvin Smith answered death's summons, Monday, Oct 30th, at the home of his son A.W. Smith of Ada, Oklahoma. The deceased had only been sick a few days, having died from the effects of pneumonia. Mr. Smith was well known in Comanche, having a number of relatives here and a large circle of friends. Mr. Smith lived a straightforward Christian life, having been a faithful member of the Methodist Church for many years. He leaves one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Ed Richardson of Comanche, Dave Smith of Childress and A.W. Smith of Ada. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon with Rev. W.A. Govett officiating. Interment was made at the Fairlawn Cemetery. Note: Death Certificate has his death date October 31, 1927.
