Bio

Elizabeth "Elsie" Smola, of Dwight, NE. passed away on November 29, 2012 at Greene House in Seward, NE. Elsie, was born on June 16, 1926 to Frank and Veronica (Janak) Andel on a farm near Appleton, NE. Elsie attended a country school near Appleton, NE. where she completed up to the 8th grade. On April 20, 1952 Elsie was united in marriage to Eugene "Bud" Smola at Assumption Parish in Appleton, NE. Elsie was a member of Dwight (NE.) Assumption Alter Society for many years. Elsie really enjoyed reading, baking, playing BINGO, gardening, babysitting, and collecting salt & pepper shakers, horses, and Santa Clauses. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elsie is survived by: husband, Eugene "Bud" Smola; daughter, Sheryl (Bill) Hughes of Dunn, N.C.; sons, Rick (Jane) Smola of David City, NE. and Joe (Carol) Smola of Dwight, NE.; daughters, Patti Romshek of David City, NE. and Jeanne Smola of Dwight, NE.; sisters, Martha Sejkora and Mary Anne(Don) Romshek; brother, Bob (Bernie) Andel; grandchildren; Michelle (Rob) Hendrickson, Nick (Sonja) Hughes, Lindsey (Jacob), Quintin Smola, Alyssa Smola, Cody Smola, Jess Smola, Laci Smola, Amanda (Nick) Topil, Dustin (Rachelle) Romshek, and Jordan June; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Elsie is preceded in death by: parents; brothers, Marcel and George Andel; son-in-law, Dennis Romshek and granddaughter; Kimberly Hughes. Interment was in the Dwight Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Dwight, NE.
