Bio

Sylvester George Matej was born on July 30, 1937 in Rosenberg, Tx to James and Anne Matej. On October 14, 2011 he went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 74. Sylvester graduated from Orchard High School and later attended Wharton County Jr College. He spent the majority of his career as a farmer in the local area and then later worked as an independent insurance agent. Sylvester received a certificate from Rhema Bible School. He was active in spreading the gospel throughout his daily life and in his service to the church. Sylvester and his wife Jannie have been active members of Christ Is Life Church for 22 years where they participated in street ministries, leading Sunday school and hosting bible studies for 22 years in their home. Sylvester and Jannie were also active in Altar Ministries and were servants to the Lord in praying for and talking with people who had just received their salvation. Sylvester and Jannie also served as elders to Christ Is Life Church for numerous years. Sylvester formed Matej Ministries and used this ministry to spread the Word of God via CD and DVD teachings. Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Henrietta Bucek and his first wife Irene Owczarzak Matej. Sylvester has a large family and he was extremely proud of the fact that each of them has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
