------------------------- W. C. Houk Dies; Rites Set Tuesday William C, Houk. 69. 412 E Seventh, died Saturday at 9:23 a.m. in a Roswell hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1O a.m. at the Ballard Chapel. Mr. Houk. a retired carpenter, was born Aug. 20,1901, in Comby. Tex., to John and Sarah Wilson Houk. He went to Portales in 1917 and lived there two years. He moved to Dora, later to Elida and to Roswell in 1942. He was employed at Walker Air Force Base, retiring in 1963. He and Willeta Moreland were married Dec 15. 1925, in Elida. Mr. Houk was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elida. He is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Joyce Smith of Roswell, Mrs. Lillian Fox of Selma, Calif.; two sons. W. C. Houk of San Jose,Calif., Edward Houk of Austin, Tex.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His wife died in 1940 and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McCall, died May 14, 1969. The funeral services Tuesday will be conducted by the Rev. Buford Coplen, pastor of the Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Selections will be sung by Mrs. Jo Tyner, accompanied by Mrs. Geraldine Barbee at the organ. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, south of Portales.
