Rosalie Scarmardo Miller Devorsky, 79, of Waco, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at a local hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A scripture service will be at 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 11, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with Bill Scarmardo officiating. A visitation will follow. Rosalie was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Waco, to the late Luke and Mary Scarmardo. She grew up in the back of Scarmardo Fine Foods, once located at 2526 Reuter, which her parents owned and operated for 55 plus years. She was a 1940 graduate of Waco High School. Rosalie attended Texas Women's University Business School for two years. After William Miller (her first husband) died in 1974, Rosalie fell in love and married Bob Devorsky on Nov. 1, 1975. She worked 28 plus years for McLennan County as Deputy County Clerk. Rosalie and Bob belonged to several local dance clubs. They enjoyed traveling together both nationally and internationally. She loved her family and many friends. One of Rosalie's favorite pastimes was shopping; especially for their home furnishings. She was a gifted cook, decorator, and hostess when entertaining in their home. Her last day on earth was spent celebrating her 79th birthday with her family, shopping with her daughter, Patty, and then dancing her final dance in the arms of her devoted husband, Bob. Survivors include husband, Bob, of Waco; daughters, Patricia Miller Godfrey and husband, Martin, of Canyon Lake, Debbie Powell and husband, Gary, of Houston, Donna Searcy and husband, Ronnie, of League City, and Diane Balderrama and husband, Steve, of Waco; sons, William R. Miller, Jr., of Waco, Bobby Devorsky and wife, Cathy, of Waco, and Mark Devorsky and wife, Kim, of Hewitt; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Luke Scarmardo and wife, Tommie, of Dripping Springs; two nephews; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
