Gracie Florene Smith went home to be with her Lord October 6, 2012 Funeral services for Gracie Smith age 90 of Kemp Texas will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Hwy 274 Kemp TX. Rev Jim Renfro and Rev. Hershell Smith will be officiating. Interment will be at Ola Cemetery Kaufman, TX. Visitation will be Tuesday October 9th at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp TX. Gracie Florene Smith was a "New Year's Baby" born January 1, 1922 to Jefferson Bryant Glenn and Nettie Mae Hollingsworth Glenn in Kaufman County. She married Henry Hershell Smith in Rand, Kaufman County January 7, 1939. Born to Hershell and Gracie were 16 children (one stillborn). On Sundays after Church the children and grandchildren would gather in the front yard looked like ants at a picnic. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kemp. She loved her church and her Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband Hershell (1988) and daughter Sara Elizabeth (1988). She is survived by her sons and their wives; Hershell and Phileta, Sammy and Judith, David and Tina, Macon and Darla and Daryl of Kemp; Jerry and Judy of Edgewood, James and Joann of Quitman, Daughters and their husbands; Nettie and Austin Nelson, Mary and Billy Whitten of Kemp, Dorothy Bednar, Shirley Stamper of Kaufman, Vivian and Donny Vickery, Lillian Burkey of Longview and Helen and Roy Roberts of Jasper. Sister, Jo Williams and Brother, Lonnie Glenn, Sister-in-laws; Anna Lou Taylor and Vera Toland and brother-in-law, Elvis Smith. She is also survived by 59 grandchildren 109 great grandchildren and 54 great great-grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews and multitudes of friends. She loved to travel and see God's beautiful country but in her later years her favorite times were attending her church reading her bible and visits from her children and family. The legacy she would like to leave is for everyone to know God and know that God loves you.
