Milo L. Mastny, 89, of Schuyler, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler. Milo Mastny was born June 17, 1923 in rural Colfax County to Anton and Milada (Mayer) Mastny. He attended Dist 1 School rural Schuyler. On December 19, 1944, he was inducted in the United States Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was Honorably Discharged on November 20, 1946 at Camp Beale, California. Milo was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. On September 23, 1948, Milo was united in marriage to Libbie Stepan at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. Milo and Libbie farmed in the Schuyler area for 38 years, retiring in 1986. Milo was a 56 year member and past elder of the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler, Life Member of V.F.W. Post #4836, Member of American Legion Post #47, and also served on the School Board of Dist. 1. Milo and Libbie were honored with the Nebraska Pioneer Award in 2004 for having the farm in the family for 100 years. Milo loved to dance, play cards, and loved to go to his granchildren's sporting events. Milo also enjoyed listening to his son Jim play accordian music. Milo was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Edward and Robert Mastny, Sister Irene Bohaty, and a grandson Curtis Mastny. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Libbie of Schuyler, Sons & Daughters-in-law: Eugene (Joyce) Mastny of Fremont, Jim (Rae Ann) Mastny of Dwight. Granchildren: Chad Mastny, Rebecca Mastny both of Raleigh, N.C., J.J. (Allie) Mastny of Omaha, Sarah Mastny and special friend Matt Aveldson of Lincoln, Christopher Mastny of Dwight. Great Grandchildren Regan and Tyler Mastny of Raleigh, N.C.
