Bio

From the Butler County Gallery- Rachel died 10 Aug 1871, aged 21 yrs, 5 days (should be 20 Aug 1871) Calculated birth date is: 15 Aug 1850 Rachel E. Arehart was born in Richland County, OH to Henry Arehart and Mary Evers. The family went west after the Civil War, stopping in Indiana, where Rachel married William Jefferson Grubaugh on 27 May 1869 in Koskiusko County, IN. They continued on west to Nebraska where Rachel had one child, Mary E. Grubaugh. Mary died on 29 Aug 1871 shortly after that childbirth. Mary also died, about 1 month after Rachel. William went on to marry Josephine Abney in Adams County, IL in 1877 and returned to Omaha. They had 5 children (all girls) with Josephine before he died in 1904 in Omaha, NE. Two of their 5 children also died at an early age.
