MINERAL RIDGE - Robert L. "Bob" Echols, 89, passed away peacefully at 11:50pm on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Trumbull Memorial Hospital following a short illness. He was born in Blackstone, Virginia on March 8, 1923 the son of Leslie and Ethel (Holbrook) Echols. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he honorably served as a tank crewman and driver. He retired from General Motors, Lordstown in 1988 after working 20 years as a store room attendant and assembly line worker. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Niles and the Niles McKinley Masonic Lodge #794. He was a lifetime Cleveland Browns and Indians fan; enjoyed doing yard work and activities with the church. He loved and cherished the time spent with his grandson, Joshua. Bob is survived by his wife, Clara (Horne) Echols whom he married on May 12, 1951; daughter, Tracy (Jerry) Butcher of Mineral Ridge and grandson, Joshua Butcher of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Echols. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
