Bio

Adaline was born in PA. to Samuel & Nancy J. Long-Parks. Some of her siblings were Jane A.,Caroline,Calvin,Jonathan,Ambrose,Samuel,Robert,Almira,Clara,Eliza. She married Elmore Kelsey in 1858 at the home of her parents in Little York,PA. and they moved to Mound City,KS. Her sister Jane married Elmore's brother Hiram. Elmore was a blacksmith and she ran a boarding house for officers near where the Linn Co. courthouse now stands during the Civil War era. Seven of her eight children died at a young age and are buried with her and Elmore. Their pioneer grave is a long field stone and is a fitting marker for a humble Kansas pioneer family.
