Sister Mary Cecile Stalp, 74, of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Thursday evening, April 9, 1987 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday at Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Flavian Blong, O.F.M., Cap., and burial will be in Holy Family Convent Cemetery. Sister was born Rose Catherine Stalp on February 22, 1913, at West Point, Nebraska, daughter of the late Gerhard and Teresa Spenner Stalp. She entered the convent in 1930 and professed her vows in 1933. Sister earned a B.A. Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc and a M.A. Degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. Sister Mary taught at St. Theresa's, Appleton; St. Willibrord's, Chicago; Holy Innocents, Manitowoc; St. Peter and Paul, Kiel; St. Andrew, Potosi, Wisconsin; St. Francis, Manistique, Michigan; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; Guardian Angels, Oneida, Wisconsin; St. Peter's, Middleton, Wisconsin; St. Michael's, Whitelaw; St. Boniface, Manitowoc; St. Thomas More, Appleton; Xavier High School, Appleton; and Holy Family High School, Lindsay, Nebraska. She also was a member of the staff at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. Since her retirement from active ministry, she has been residing at Holy Family Convent. Survivors include a brother, Joe Stalp of West Point, Nebraska; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Gertrude Maresh of Dodge, Nebraska, Mrs. Helen Timmerman of West Point, Nebraska and Margaret and Ferdinand Uhing of West Point, Nebraska. Friends may call at Holy Family Convent, 4 pm to 8 pm Sunday where a prayer service will be at 7 pm in Holy Family Convent Chapel. Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of arrangements.
