Parents WJ "Jack" Rhodes Nina Sophronia White ∼ Naoma and Grady were married on January 1,1924 by Bro. Tubbs in Corsicana,Texas. They lived first in southwest Corsicana before moving to the farm. They always lived in Navarro County. Unless the roads were too muddy,Grady drove is Model A Ford to the oil lease where he worked. Susan remembers "Granddaddy sometimes took Joey and me with him. I'd climb the stairs up onto the oil well and look down through the little hole on top to try to see the oil inside." As Fundamental Baptist this children lived "a very sheltered life." Granddaddy insisted that people not curse around his daughters. His daughter Mary says they all were close and "ate a lot of beans and cornbread." The most enjoyable years were when they were young,"before Jean left home and Marguerite died." Home was never the same after that. - Susan Puthoff
