Mr. Charles Gordon "Bus" McMurtry, 97, of Newport, Arkansas died Thursday, October 18, 2012. He was born October 2, 1915 in Lincoln County, Nebraska the son of Bert Thomas and Elizabeth Briget (Sweeney) McMurtry. Mr. McMurtry retired from Dave and Busters as a Chef. He was a member of the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Newport. Mr. McMurtry was a World War II United States Army veteran, and served under Patton's 3rd. Army, in the 35th. division. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, V.F.W post# 4683 in Newport, DAV Post #34, and the American Legion MM Eberts Post 0001 in Little Rock. He enjoyed telling stories, baking, reading, fishing, traveling, watching the Razorbacks, and being very sharply dressed. Mr. McMurtry was preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel Ann (Ghormley) McMurtry; five brothers, James, Vernon, Floyd, John, and Francis McMurtry; and three sisters, Linda Peters, Lavina Pease, and Lucy Arndt. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Broadaway) McMurtry of the home; three children, Charles William McMurtry and wife, Betty of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Patrick Michael McMurtry and wife, Karen, of Ephraim, Wisconsin, and Sandra Kay Engster of Sherwood, Arkansas; three step-children, Charles Christopher Welch of Davenport, Iowa, Kip Patric Welch of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kim "Sis" Welch Tatman of Arkadelphia; eight grandchildren, Johnny Engster, Kim Davison, Scott McMurtry, Donald Mac Tatman, Melissa Ann Tatman, Lindsay Katherine Welch, Ashley Wesley Welch, and Johnathan Welch; five great-grandchildren, Kali Engster, Katie Davison, Lindsey Davison, Hannah Davison, and Jamie Raye Brown. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday evening, 6:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary Services at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Cecelia's Church with committal services at 2:00 p.m. in Rest Hill's Memorial Park Cemetery at Sherwood. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Johnny Engster, Kip Welch, Scott Tatman, Chris Welch, Mac Tatman, Kyle Rogers, Johnathan Welch, and Ashley Welch. Honorary pallbearers are David Gullic, Marvin Thaxton, James Collier, Steve Michaels, Ronny Broadaway, Jr. and Dr. Phil Gullic. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
