Bio

Funeral services for Johnie Donald McKinley, 82, of Jefferson were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2002 at Haggard-Heaster Chapel with the Rev. Marion Harris and Paul Hillier officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Haggard- Heaster Funeral Home. Mr. McKinley was born October 18, 1919 in Glenwood, the son of Ida and Lon McKinley. He died January 25 in Longview. He married Grace Annette Brooks on August 27, 1955, and they had two children. He lived in Jefferson from the age of 7, and he worked at M.K. Knight's Grocery Store for many years. He then worked and retired from Vineyard's store, previously known as Piggly Wiggly, where he was widely known as "Mr. Johnie". Survivors include his wife, Grace, of Jefferson; a son and daughter-in-law, John Donald and Ann McKinley of Woodlawn; a daughter and son-in-law Linda Annette and Mike Johnson of Jefferson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Wendel Morris and Lola and Roy Ledbetter, all of Harleton; grandchildren, John Patrick McKinley of Aurora, Colorado, Michael Wayne Johnson and Lauren Annette Johnson, both of Jefferson and Jessica Ann McKinley of Woodlawn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. Active pallbearers were Ronnie Cox, Jeff Grubbs, Tommy Morris, Michael Martin, Don Brooks and Mark Moses.
