LATHAM -- Wilbur Francis "Pinky" Marshall, 81, of Latham died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at 12:10 a.m. at the Illinois Veterans Hospital in Quincy and was reunited with his wife on the other side. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Bill Shanle officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Illini Township Cemetery, Warrensburg. Mr. Marshall was a retired farmer, owner and operator of Marshall's Garage in Latham, and had worked as a tractor-trailer driver hauling coal. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was born April 20, 1923, in Mason City to Wilbur Francis and Elsie Mae Woods Marshall. He married Joyce Scott in Goodlett, Texas, on Oct. 12, 1951. She died March 15, 2003. He is survived by one daughter, Wilma Mae (and Richard) Stanley of Latham; five grandchildren, Shannon (and Delbert) Koontz of Pana, Elizabeth "Liz" Marshall of Decatur, Larry "Beau" (and Amy) Marshall of Latham, Angela Stanley of Decatur and Leslie Stanley of Latham ; five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild, Mathew and William Koontz of Pana, Rebekah Davis and Laney and Lyndsey Marshall of Latham, and Jacob Stanley of Decatur; one brother, Johnnie Marshall of San Jose; one sister, Alvena Smith of Jefferson City, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Goodpasture of Kenney; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Marshall Sr.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Marshall and Richard Stanley Jr.; one sister, Mildred Goodpasture; one brother, Melvin Marshall; and a sister-in-law, Helen Marshall. He was a member of the Latham Volunteer Fire Department for many years and Mount Pulaski VFW 777. He was a graduate of Latham High School. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home of Quincy or to the donor's choice.
