William Fintel, deceased, was born August 23, 1892 in Thayer County, Nebr., near Byron, one of 11 children of Christoph Fintel and Elizabeth Ottens, and passed away on June 21, 1956, at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 28 days. Both parents passed away while the family was still young. Also one brother and two sisters preceded the deceased in death. In 1906 the family removed to a farm five and one half miles southwest of Deshler where they continued to reside until 1910. The deceased was baptized into the christian faith on March 31, 1907, and confirmed April 12, 1908, by pastor Kreckler in the former Zion Lutheran church (sic) southwest of Deshler. He received his secular education in several elementary school districts. The deceased was employed as a farm laborer by various farmers in the community from 1910 to 1918 when he took over the operation of the farm on which he resided at the time of his death. In 1918 he was united in holy wedlock with Augusta Fintel. The union was blest (sic) with the birth of one son, Erwin. However, the passing of his wife on October 13, 1933 left the deceased a widower with a teen-aged son. On September 28, 1934 he again entered into the estate of holy matrimony, this time with Mary Hofts. To this union two children were born: Kenneth and Connie. About the time of his second marriage the deceased became a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and continued in active membership until the time of his passing. The deceased manifested his christianity as a loyal husband, faithful father, diligent worker and valued neighbor. Though his health had been perfect for the past several years, his death came quite unexpected. While unloading feed on Wednesday morning June 20, he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never rallied, and passed away early Thursday morning, June 21. Those who remain to mourn his pasing (sic) are his widow, his 3 children previously mentioned, two grandchildren, four brothers: Henry of Loveland, Colo., August of Deshler, Nebr. Louis of Woodbine, Kas., and Gust of Superior, Nebr. three sisters: Mrs. Martha Potthast, Mrs. Henry Bartels and Mrs. Louis Lau all of Deshler, Nebr.; a great many other relatives and a host of friends. The memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. (sic) northwest of Deshler with Rev. Geo. Obermeyer in charge. Interment was made in the St. Paul Lutheran cemetery (sic).
