Bio
This memorial properly connects to her father, James Madison Green It also connects incorrectly to Ollie Simmons as her mother; but it does say in text just below the main part of the memorial that her mother is Viola French, which is true. James Madison Green married Viola French on 6 August 1899 at Coffee county, Tennessee; she and James Green are shown together in the 1900 census of Coffee county. Tennessee. See FamilySearch.org: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MS8S-R75 Mamie is shown as age 6 with them in the 1910 census of Cannon County, Tennessee, See https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGXP-6TP I believe Viola died in childbirth about 1912 giving birth to daughter Lucille Green. James Madison Green married widow Mrs. Ollie Carrick 4 February 1912 in Cannon county, Tennessee (Ollie Carrick and her husband and child are shown in the 1910 census at: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MGXP-PZ3 and I traced her marriage at ancestry.com and her maiden name is Simmons.) --------- The 1920 census shows James Madison Green with Ollie as his second wife and Mamie is 17 and Ollie's son Hassel Carrick is age 10. That census has the family divided on two pages that are indexed separately, the parents at: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MNG1-YPD and the children on the next page at: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MNG1-YPX I think what happened is that Ollie lived so long that the family forgot that James had three spouses, the first named Viola and the second one named Ollie and they put both names on Ollie.
