Jack Hawkins, 80, of Center, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Garrison Nursing Home in Garrison. He was born March 30, 1932 in Shelbyville to Pete Akin and Catherine Pullen Akin. Mr. Hawkins worked as a purchasing manager at Center Plywood for thirty-two years. He was involved in Kiwanis Club, was an Explorer Scout Leader and a Girls' Softball Coach. Mr. Hawkins was a member of First Baptist Church in Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale and Bro. Carl Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Pallbearers will be Randy Graves, Eric Graves, Todd Graves, Chad Carlton, Mark Gary and Roy E. Noble. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Sanders, Joe Anderson, Ben Sanford, Gene Gray, Billy Clyde Duncan, McNeil Moore, Chilly Jones and Doyle Luman. He is survived by Wife of 52 years: Ann Hawkins of Center Daughters: Sheryl Graves and husband, Randy of Lake Murvaul Joanne Shillings of Center Grandchildren: Eric Graves and wife, Kayla of Kingwood Todd Graves and wife, Soni of The Woodlands Shanna Carlton of Center Chad Carlton and wife, April of Center Eight Great Grandchildren Sister: Sammie Dyer and husband, M.B. of Mission A number of nieces and nephews Preceded in death by Mother and Stepfather: Catherine & O.O.
