Richard (Dick) John Harrison, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Havlovic, 1703 McLean street, was killed Tuesday night, July 1973, in an auto accident near Guyton, Ga. He was on his way home from playing in a baseball game when his car went off the road and slammed into a telephone pole. He was killed instantly. The Havlovics received word of the accident in Lincoln, where they had gone Tuesday for an appointment Wednesday with a specialist. Richard was born Sept 7, 1949, in Omaha, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Richard Harrison. He attended St Peter's school in Omaha until the fourth grade, when the family moved here. He attended Sacred Heart and then Falls City high school. He enlisted in the navy and served four years, including three Mediterranean cruises, and received his discharge on Mar. 2, 1973. He was a boatswain's mate, third class when he was discharged. He was employed by Grumman American Aviation Corp., until he could establish six months residence in Georgia to try for the Georgia state patrol. Richard and his fiancee, Miss Cherlynn Wilson, Guyton, left here last Friday after visiting his parents. Surviving are his mother and stepfather; a sister, Mrs. Morris Bistol, Lincoln; a brother, Robert Harrison, Omaha; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Philomena Hilger, Omaha, and step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Havlovic, David City. The funeral mass will be held at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning here in the chapel of Chaney-Hodgens-Clark Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James O'Connor. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulcher cemetery at Omaha, where his father is buried. The Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight in the chapel of the Funeral Home.
