Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), July 25, 1929, p. 1, cols. 3 & 4 JOSEPH OSMERA Joseph Osmera passed away last Friday morning at 2:30 o'clock, at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, at Leavenworth, Kansas. He had been taken there a week previous following a paralytic stroke which had left his lower limbs useless. He had suffered for some time with leakage of the hart. He was 42 years and 10 days of age. He was born July 8, 1887 on a farm a mile northeast of Brainard, a son of John and Mary Osmera Sr. The same year of his birth his folks moved to Hayes County, Nebr., where they resided until 1905, when they returned to Butler County. For many years he farmed in this vicinity, later moving to Brainard and working as a day laborer. In May 1918 he joined the U.S. army and served his country for eighteen months, twelve of which were with the American Expeditionary forces overseas. Since its founding he has been a member and a willing worker of the Rejda Post 273 American Legion. He is survived by six brothers, John, Frank, Charles, Rudolph, Anton and Louis, all of this vicinity; and three sisters: Mrs. Bohumir Osmera of near Weston, and Mrs. Otto Proskovec and Mrs. Theo. Pecha of near Bruno. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Holy Trinity church conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein. The remains were accompanied from the home to the church by an escort from the American Legion and a military funeral was given at the cemetery. Pallbearers were also six Legionaires. ____ We extend our sincere gratitude to Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein, members of the American Legion and all friends who assisted us in our time of sorrow; we also thank those who gave flowers. Brothers and Sisters
