Marie R. Steed, 76, of Port Arthur, Texas, died Saturday, October 13, 2012 after a lengthy illness, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born December 29, 1935 in Sunset, Texas to Wiley Lee and Letha Williams Roberts. Marie was a resident of this area for over 50 years and a member of Stonegate Church of Christ. She was a 1957 graduate from the University of Oklahoma, School of Nursing and retired as a nurse from St. Mary Hospital in 1998. She was a past P.T.A. president, past member of the Texas A&M Mother's Club, and previously active in scouting. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Steed and son-in-law, David Garnett. She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Russell and husband, Tom of Inyokern, CA., two sons, Robert K. Steed of Port Arthur, TX. and Kent J. Steed and wife, Kim of Tomball, TX., three sisters, Laverne Saunders of Shallowater, TX., Adell Walin of San Antonio, TX., and Leola Bracey and husband, Ross of Dallas, TX., brother, Grady Roberts of Spring, TX., nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
