Joseph Pesta, 72, Dies; Services Thursday Morning Joseph Pesta, 72, long time resident of Valley county, died Aug. 21 at the Valley County Hospital. Funeral services were held at 9:30 am Thursday (today) at St. Mary's Auditorium with the Rev. Albert Godlewski officiating. Interment was in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Pesta was born July 28, 1895 at Ratibor, Czechoslovakia, the son of Vaclav and Josepha Kolarova Pesta. He came to the United States at the age of 17, docking in New York, and lived a short time in Cleveland, Ohio before coming to Nebraska to work as a farm hand. He and Lillian Trubl were married at St. Paul, June 14, 1922. After marriage they farmed in Custer and Valley counties, later moving to Ord where he was a dealer in scrap iron and in later years was sexton of the Ord City. He was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Taylor of Omaha; two sons Joseph E. of San Diego, Calif., and LaVerne J. of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandsons, one brother and three sisters all in Prague, Czechoslovakia.
