Bio

With Love and Remembrance, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Bily on March 28, 2017, at her home in Needville, Texas. Our Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother was 95 years old having been born on November 11, 1921, in Weir, TX, to Mary and Lad Bartosh. She was raised in Granger, graduated from Granger High School in 1940 and moved to Houston, TX. She was a devoted Catholic and member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Houston and, of late, St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic Church in Needville. She was proud of her Czech Heritage, belonging for many years to several Czech organizations: Houston Czech Heritage Society, Czech Cultural Center, Texas Heritage and Cultural Center, SPJST, WFLA and SOKOL. She visited the Czech Republic twice, once with her husband, Miroslav, and another time with her granddaughter, Shelley. She fluently spoke and wrote the Czech language. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Miroslav Bily in 1997, and two of her six sons, Paul Edward Bily and Vladislav Joseph Bily. She is survived by her four sons John Bily and wife, Melinda, Jerry Bily and wife, Deborah, Robert Bily and wife, JoAnn, and James Bily and wife, Vilma; grandchildren Daniel Bily and wife, Angela, Michael Bily and wife, Michelle, Devin Bily and wife, Sommer, Lindsey Bily Wilson and husband, Matt, Nicole Bily Reid, Shelley Bily Akers and husband, Tom, Erin Bily Ciment and husband, Daniel, Steve Bily, John Austin Bily, and Guy Hunter Bily; great grandchildren Jacqueline Bily, Von Bily, Raven Reid, Allen Bily, Amanda Bily, Codi Bily, Savannah Bily, Colton Bily, Rachel Reid, Vincent Bily, Arden Ciment, Emory Ciment, Gabriella Akers, Hudson Ciment, and Audriana Akers; sister Georgie Bartosh Barber and family. Visitation will be at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School St, Needville, TX, Friday, March 31, from 5-7PM with a Rosary at 7PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 9214 Main St, Needville, TX 77461, on Saturday, April 1, at 10AM, a reception for friends and family will immediately follow the mass. Burial will be held at 2PM at Brookside Cemetery, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039.
