Son of Stump Ashby Ferguson Sr. and Oda Harwell Ferguson. Married Zelna Maurine Underwood. STUMP ASHBY "S.A." FERGUSON, JR., was born to Stump Ashby Ferguson Sr. and Oda Harwell Ferguson on February 2, 1920 in the Heights of Houston. The family moved to Park Place of Houston in 1929 where the family of four children grew up. He graduated from Charles H. Millby and attended University of Texas before marrying Zelna Maurine Underwood on August 10, 1941. After Pear Harbor he served in the US Army Air Corp as a Second LT. Navigator until his discharge in 1945. He then graduated with a BBA from the University of Houston. He was an accountant, then one of the first computer programmers with Exxon. He retired from Exxon after 34 years. He then worked on the Harris County Appraisal District Board for nine years. He served as a deacon at Park Place Baptist and Tallowood Baptist churches. He was especially involved in the Prayer Room Ministry at Tallowood and the Prison Ministry. He passed from this world into his eternal home with his beloved Savior on October 18, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Zelna; his daughter Judy Sale and son-in-law Jim Sale of Midland, TX; grandson Jim Wade Sale and his wife Mandy Thorpe Sale of Austin; grandson Spencer Ashby Sale of Richardson, TX; four great grandchildren; one sister, Aline Swaner of Arlington; one brother Kenneth Wayne Ferguson and his wife Lola of Spring, TX; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 20, 2000 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2000 at SouthPark Cemetery, 1310 N. Main, Pearland, TX. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 21, 2000 at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood, Houston,77024. If desired contributions may be made to the Mission Fund of the Sunshine Class at Tallowood Baptist Church.
