Ernie T. "Ernie" Pernicek, 92, of David City, died Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the Butler County Healthcare Center in David City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in David City, Nebraska, with Reverend Bernard Kimminau, Celebrant. Committal will be Wednesday at 2 P.M. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Abie, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-7 P.M., with a rosary service at 7 P.M. at Kracl Funeral Chapel, continuing Wednesday from 9-10 A.M. at the church. Memorials suggested to donor's choice. Lunch will immediately follow after the Mass at the KC Hall in David City. Ernie was born June 30, 1920, in Linwood, Nebraska, to Emil and Ella(Hajek) Pernicek. He attended school at District #53 and graduated from Schuyler High School. He entered the United States Army Air Force in 1942, serving as Staff Sargent in the 316th Troop Carrier Group, 45th Squadron. Following the service he returned to farm with his father and brother and farmed until the age of 72. On December 30, 1948, he married Gladys Liskovec at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Ernie is survived by his wife, Gladys, of David City; four daughters, Diane (Jim) Bartlett, and Carol Pernicek, all of Lincoln, Connie (Richard) Wachal, of Schuyler, Donna McDonald, of David City; one son, Mark (Dianne) Pernicek, of Octavia; a sister, Rose Jambor, of David City; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Lori Ann; and a brother, Leonard Pernicek. Kracl Funeral Chapel, of David City, is in charge of these arrangements.
