Funeral services for Doris Friesz, age 71 of Creighton, will be Thursday October 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. Reverend Terry Huber will officiate with inurnment in Christ Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 at Brockhaus Funeral Home at Creighton. She died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Doris Gesine (Dieck) Friesz, daughter of Hans W. and Minnie (Hollman) Dieck, was born on February 7, 1939 at West Point, Nebraska. She attended Howells Public Schools at Howells, Nebraska. On November 3, 1971, she was married to Alvin C. Friesz at Albion, Nebraska. Five children were born to them, Debra, Diane, Douglas, Denise and David. Doris lived at Howells for 20 years, and then moved to Creighton. She enjoyed farming with Alvin, especially raising hogs. She loved raising her big family and grandchildren, cooking, gardening, and reading. Doris enjoyed growing flowers and decorating the house. Watching bull riding events was another one of her favorite activities. Doris was a member of Christ Lutheran Church at Bazile Mills, Nebraska. She is survived by her husband, Alvin; sons, Doug Friesz of Creighton and David Friesz of Pierce; daughters and spouses, Deb and Bill Cornelius of Battlement Mesa, CO, Diane and Roland Hidy of Trenton, NE, and Denise Schumacher of Marshall, MN; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister.
