Married 1887 Howard Co, NE ----------------------------------------- Mrs. C. Blaha Dies of a Stroke at Home Monday Funeral Services Held Today For Resident of Valley Co. Since 1888 Funeral services were held this morning at 10:00 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic church for Mrs. Charles Blaha, Sr. who died at her home early Monday afternoon of a stroke. Rev. Thomas Siudowski officiated at the services. Pall bearers were Lyle Witherwax, Chester Swanek, William Blaha, Frank Blaha, John Blaha, and Al Parkos, Sr. Burial was in the family plot in the Ord Catholic cemetery. Mary Sibal was born in Czechoslovakia on Sept. 7, 1868. At the time of her death she was 78 years, 4 months and 6 days old. When she was sixteen years old she came to St. Paul, Nebr. To join her parents, who resided on a farm there. In 1888 she was married to Charles Blaha, and the young couple homesteaded in Woods Park. Later they sold the homestead and returned to St. Paul where they lived for ten years. In 1902, the Blahas came back to Valley County, and purchased a farm in Eureka township, where they resided until their retirement. At that time they made their home in Ord, where Mrs. Blaha has lived since. Preceding her in death were a son, Frank Blaha, who died in 1906, and her husband, who died in 1937. She leaves to mourn five sons and two daughters; Charles Blaha of Ord; Joe Blaha of Ericson; Rudolph and Louis Blaha, both of Ord; Mrs. Lottie Rozmahel of Viking, Alberta, Canada; Edward Blaha of Ord; and Mrs. Mary Jelinek of Whittier, Calif; in addition to 19 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hastings-Pearson chapel. Hastings and Pearson were in charge of the funeral arrangements. One brother John Sibal of Ogallala and a sister, Mrs. George Getscher of Omaha, also survive. The Ord Quiz - Thur, Jan 16 1947, Pg 1. Col 2
