Tom Koger, Early Day Settler, Dies Uremic Poisoning Fatal to Parsons Insurance and Real Estate Man Thomas J. Koger, 71, pioneer resident of this vicinity, died at 10:25 o'clock last night at his home, 215 ½ S. 22nd of uremic poisoning. He has been ill nearly a month. Mr. Koger came to this vicinity with his parents in 1869 when he was a small boy and for years was in the real estate business in Parsons. They settled on a farm near the present site of Parsons before this city was founded, coming here from Kentucky. Mr. Koger was a kind and devoted father and was known for his jovial and cheerful disposition. He never complained of his illness. After living on farms around Parsons for many years, Mr. Koger moved to Parsons 15 years ago. He was widely known as an insurance and real estate man and was active in church work. Besides his widow Mrs. Stella Koger, to whom he was married in 1931, at Columbus, Mr. Koger leaves eight children by a former marriage; Virgil A. Koger, Fullterton, Cal.; Archie R. Koger, Everett T. Koger, and Mrs. Minnie Dennis, all of Orange, Cal.; Mrs. Pearl Campbell, Oklahoma City, and Sylvester C. Koger, 1620 Thornton and Mrs. Hazel C. Mantooth and Rufus W. Koger, both of 729 S. 32nd. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Kersey-Jones funeral home with the Rev. M. Lee Sorey officiating and burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from his Bible school class at the Christian church. The Parsons Sun October 13, 1934
