Bio

Son of Alfred Sr. & Frieda (Rohweder) Gossman. attended District 12 grade school. On June 19, 1960, he married Marian Goedeken in Columbus. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves from April 9, 1961 to October 8, 1961. He was a life long resident of Platte County and farmed the land that had been in his family since 1925. He raised beef cattle, hogs and corn. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center, where he had served as an elder. He helped organize the building of Lakeview High School. He enjoyed traveling, landscaping, working in his yard and farming. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia (Jim) Gonka and Tammy (Steven) Sliva, all of Columbus and Janet (Dale) Jaixen of Platte Center; one son, Gary of Columbus; four sisters, Helen (Rudy) Scholz of Wahoo, Dorothy (Melvin) Schmid and Isabelle (Gunnar) Claussen, all of Columbus, and Jeanette (Lawrence) Schmid of Bellwood; one brother, Howard (Evelyn) of Lansing, Ill.; and nine grandchildren - Amber Gonka, Miranda Gonka, Justin Gonka, Thomas Jaixen, Carrie Jaixen, Lindsey Jaixen, Mandy Jaixen, Kelsey Sliva and Nathan Sliva. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Larry L.
