Bio

Mrs. Agnes I. Shaw Whitfill, 85, passed away at home on Monday, April 2, 2007. She was born Feb. 15, 1922 in Fort Worth, the daughter of William J. and Cecelia Radilyack Shaw. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory High School in 1940 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Incarnate Word College San Antonio in 1945. In 1948 she was married to Clarence E. Whitfill of Alma. They entered the U.S. Air Force. After living in Illinois, Puerto Rico, Maine and California, they retired from the service and returned to Ennis in 1963. Agnes began teaching at St. John Catholic School in 1966. She taught Home Economics, second grade and Religion. She retired from teaching in 1994. She loved her students and she loved to sew and cook for her family. She was active in St. John Parish, Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary and Ennis Milers. Agnes is survived by her husband, Clarence; a son, Clarence E. Whitfill, Jr. "Buddy"; daughters, Mary Patricia Clements and Elizabeth Ann Taylor; granddaughter, Amber Nicole Clements; brother, Bill Shaw of Fort Worth; five brothers-in-law; nine sisters-in-law; and 61 nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Edison Vela as celebrant. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Sutherland, Patrick Shaw, Bill Shaw, III, Jim Shaw, David Shaw and Greg Shaw.
