Donald V. Briza, 82, of Schuyler, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at his home in Schuyler. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 10:00 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuyler, Nebraska, with Pastor Ruth Boettcher officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. Donald V. Briza was born on July 19, 1930, in David City, Nebraska, to Robert and Rose (Pardobsky) Briza. He attended grade school at Butler County District 26 and District 8, went to 1 year of high school in Octavia and 3 years of high school in Schuyler, graduating in 1948. He lived and farmed with his parents until he married Bernice Lund of Clearwater, Nebraska on December 20, 1953 in Norfolk, Nebraska. Don was baptized and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church, Shell Creek in April of 1954. Don and his wife farmed in the Richland and Norfolk area until he retired from farming in 1988. At that time he went back to school and became licensed to sell life and health insurance which led him to travel the entire state. When they left the farm in 1988, they moved into Schuyler. In 1997, Don and Bernice divorced. He loved to dance and listen to polka music, and in 2002, he joined St John's Lutheran church in Schuyler. Don is survived by Son: Reginald (Mary Ann) Briza of Columbus, NE Daughter: Beverly Mousel of Schuyler, NE Daughter: Brenda (Mike) Bridge of Omaha, NE Grandson: Nicholas (Amanda) Mousel of Columbus, NE Great-grandchildren: Caleb, Hayden, Presley, and Brooklyn Mousel Special Friend: Marianne Von Seggern of Wisner, NE Sister: Alice Muhle of Columbus, NE Former wife: Bernice Briza of Elkhorn, NE He is preceded in death by Parents: Robert and Rose Briza Brother: Edward Briza in 1936 Sister: Lydia Weaver Great grandson: Gabriel Mousel Son-in-law: Ricky Mousel
