Bio

The census records for 1920-1940 shows Richard was living in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was the son of Frank E. Jackson, born in Iowa, and Sophia Jackson, born in Oregon. [Sophia's maiden name may have been spelled Freerksen, Freecksen, or Freeksen.] In 1940, Richard listed his occupation as auditor in private practice. Richard applied for membership in the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution and it was approved in March 1939. The application showed he was the son of Frank E. Jackson and Sopha Freecksen, and that they were married February 18, 1902. It also gave the date of birth for his father and mother, and listed names and dates of birth and death for his ancestors back to the American Revolution patriot. It also showed Richard was born in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, 20 March 1911. At the time of his application, he said he was living in Salem, on Cottage Street. The Social Security Death Index and California Death Index showed Richard S. Jackson was born in Oregon, 20 March 1911 and died in San Luis Obispo in 8 April 1973. Richard is buried in Lincoln Memorial Park, the Hillside section, Lot 30, space 11. Both of his parents, Frank and Sophia Jackson, are buried to his left, and his grandmother, Mary A. Jackson, is buried above in the west 1/2 of lot 30, grave 1.
