Dr. William J. "Bill" Austin, D.C., 73, of Cheyenne died Sept. 11 at Davis Hospice Center. He was born July 31, 1939, in Fremont, Neb., and had lived in Cheyenne since 1965. Bill's family moved to Rawlins when he was a small child and he graduated from Rawlins High School. He went to Casper College for two years and the College of Chiropractic in California for two years. Dr. Austin was a self-employed chiropractor (retired). He attended St. Christopher's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Shrine Club and Masonic Temple. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, camp and fish. He was a member of the Shrine's Gray Meadows Fishing Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Legg) Austin of Cheyenne; his sons, Andy Austin (Tami) of Cheyenne and Robert Austin (Melanie) of Laramie; his stepson, Michael Hanson (Jodi) of Montrose, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Sandra Hanson of Greeley, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Colter, Levi and Chelsea Austin, all of Cheyenne, Tara and Tabitha Austin of Laramie and Jacob Hanson of Montrose. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith "Judi" Austin; and his parents, Joseph and Florence (Campbell) Austin. © Wyoming Tribune Eagle September 14, 2012
