Daughter of John Clark Ridpath & Mary (Polly) Cox Wife of Caleb Maupin (Married 22 JUN 1849) Boone County Democrat 01 NOV 1906 We are indebted to the Pilot Mound Monitor for the following obituary of the late Mrs. Mary Maupin, one of the oldest and best known of the older residents of the county, who died at her home in Pilot Mound Monday, October 29th. Mary Ann Ridpath was born November 20th, 1828 in Montgomery County, Virginia, and died October 29th 1906, in Pilot Mound. When small she moved with her parents, John and Mary Ridpath, to Putnam County, Indiana, in 1832. When but fourteen years old she joined the church with many dear young converts. She was married to Caleb Maupin in Greencastle, Indiana, June 22nd, 1849, and moved to Boone County, Iowa. In September, 1855 brought a letter of recommendation from the home church in Indiana, and joined the First M.E. church that was organized in Mineral ridge and her husband was converted soon after and joined the M.E. church and remained until he was called to the church triumphant May 21st. 1895, and left his companion to travel the rest of life's journey alone. There were seven children born to them, four sons and three daughters. Anderson Carr Maupin, of Idaho; Henrietta, who died May 23rd, 1854; Deborah Seymour, of Fraser; Levi E. Maupin of Mitchel, Colorado, Abram R. Maupin, of Central City, Colorado, Ellen Carson, who died at Indian Springs, Missouri, March 20th, 1884, and John Maupin of Leadville, Colorado.
