Married Mrs. Catherine (Kabel) Wawra (license June 21, 1879 in Butler County, Nebr.). According to his probate file he died March 19, 1904 (contradicting the date inscribed on his gravestone) and was survived by his wife Katerina and son Cyril. 1880 census (Linwood Precinct, Butler County, Nebr.): John Selard (age 38, farmer, born Moravia), Katie (wife, 35, keeping house, Moravia), Joseph (son, 10, Moravia), John (son, 9, Moravia), Frank (son, 7, Moravia), Mary (daughter, 5, Moravia), Adolph (son, 4, Moravia), and Sarah (born March Nebr.). 1885 census (same location): Joseph Salok (45, farmer, Bohemia), Catherine (wife, 38, Bohemia), Joseph (son, 14, Nebr.), John (son, 13, Nebr., Frank (son, 12, Nebr.), Mary (daughter, 10, Bohemia), Adolf (son, 9, Bohemia), and Ciral (son, 5, Bohemia). 1900 census (same location): Joseph Salak (born Dec 1841 Moravia, immigrated 1873, farmer), Katerina (wife Nov 1846 Moravia, immigrated 1873, married 21 years, seven children, six living), and Cyril (son, March 1880 Nebr.).
