The passenger list for the Rhein , which arrived in New York City from Bremen, Germany on February 6, 1877 includes the following family from Austria: Johann Palensky (age 48, farmer), Anna (52, wife), Josef (26, farmer), Carl (21), Veronica (23), Franzisca (13), and Jacob (9). 1880 census (Chester Precinct, Saunders County, Nebr.): John Paslinska (age 50, farmer, born Moravia), Annie (wife, 55, keeping house, Moravia), Jacob (son, 13, Moravia), Fannie (daughter, 15, Moravia), and Joseph (son, 26, farmer, Moravia). 1885 census (same location): John Plamke (58, farmer, Bohemia), Annie (wife, 62, keeping house, Bohemia), Charles (son, 25, farmer, Bohemia), Fanny (daughter, 20, Bohemia), and Jacob (son, 18, laborer, Bohemia). 1900 census (same location): Charles Palensky (born May 1865 Bohemia, to U.S. 1867, farmer), Agness (wife, Oct 1869 Bohemia, to U.S. 1886, married 12 years, six children, four living), Anna (daughter, July 1889 Nebr.), Cela (son, July 1890 Nebr.), Joseph (son, Jan 1894 Nebr.), Charles (son, June 1896 Nebr.), and John (father, widower, May 1826 Bohemia, immigrated 1886).
