Presumably born in the village of Panov, town of Domazlice, county of Plzen, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the birthplace of his son Joseph. According to both his obituary and his probate file he died August 12 not August 13 as inscribed on his gravestone. His probate file also states he was survived by his wife Barbara and four children: Joseph Ourada of Dawson, Nebr., Anna Herout of Verdigris, Nebr., and Mary Frohner and Josie Varna, both of Rescue, Nebr. Emigrated to the United States with his family on the ship General Werder , which arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on May 8, 1878. The passenger manifest includes the following: Johann Aurada (age 43, workman), Barbara (40), Josef (9), Anna (7), Maria (4), and Katharine (9 months), all from Bohemia. 1880 census (Chester, Saunders County, Nebr.): John Ourada (age 42, farmer, born Bohemia), Barbara (wife, 40, keeping house, Bohemia), Annie (daughter, 9, Bohemia), Mary (daughter, 6, Bohemia), and Kate (daughter, 3, Bohemia). 1885 census (Chester Precinct, Saunders County, Nebr.): John Ourada (49, farmer, Bohemia), Barbara (wife, 46, keeping house, Bohemia), Joseph (son, 19, Bohemia), Annie (daughter, 13, Bohemia), Mary (daughter, 10, Bohemia), Katie (daughter, 8, Bohemia), and Josie (daughter, 6, Nebr.) 1900 census (same location): John Ourida (Feb 1834, farmer, Bohemia, immigrated 1878) and Barbra (wife, Jan 1837, Bohemia, immigrated 1878, married 35 years, mother of five children, all living). ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), August 26, 1914, p. 8, col. 1 Abie John Ourada died on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the age of 80 years. He leaves an aged wife and five children. All the children are married. The funeral services were on Friday, Aug. 14, and were conducted by Rev. W. M. Nemec. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
