Bio
Eli was born to Joel and Elizabeth Miller Wood in what was then Pendleton County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He moved with his family in 1811 to Jefferson Twp., Fayette County, Ohio. Eli was married to Elizabeth Carr July 11, 1824 in Fayette County, Ohio. Eight of their eleven children were born there. Eli moved his family to Kosciusko County, Indiana in 1837. He received a Land Grant for 80 acres. Their three youngest children were born there. Eli then moved his family to Jasper County, Iowa in June, 1856. His two oldest children, twins Melinda and Lucinda married in Indiana and stayed there for the rest of their lives.
