Bio

Verla M. Reed, 93, of Chillicothe passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Heritage Health in Chillicothe. She was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Sparland, Ill., the daughter of John L. and Bessie (Hunt) Reed. Surviving are one brother, John Reed of Chillicothe; one nephew; and four nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Verla had been a seamstress for Voss Sporting Goods and had also worked at the Princess Peggy in Chillicothe and the Lacon Woolen Mill. Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Raymond Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rescue 33.
