Richard E. Gude, age 80, of Lincoln, NE passed away on Sunday; September 2, 2012 at BryanLGH East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. Richard was born on June 24, 1932 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Theodore H. "Spud" and Marie G. (Meyer) Gude. He was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Elizabeth Durr on January 21, 1958 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Nebraska City. He attended school in Nebraska City and then joined the Nebraska National Guard prior to enlisting in the United States Navy on November 28, 1952. He officially retired on August 1, 1979. During his long naval career, he served in various locations including Great Lakes, IL, Korea, Long Beach, CA, Detroit, MI, San Diego, CA, Omaha, NE and the Phillipines. After his discharge from active duty, he worked for the Small Business Administration in Omaha, NE. He later worked for the Civil Service at Air Force bases in Nebraska, Wyoming and South Carolina, as well as the Internal Revenue Service in Wichita, KS. Richard received degree in Business Administration from Bellevue University and then continued his education working towards his MBA. He was a member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln, NE, and a former member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Nebraska City Eagles. He is survived by his wife Jackie Gude of Lincoln, NE; children Roxanne M. Hanington and husband Ken of Bend, OR; Linda L. Mayhew and husband Don; Dorcea D. Mabie and husband Kyle; Shawn N. Gude and wife Kathy and Kevin A. Gude all of Lincoln, NE; 13 grandchildren; brother Robert L. Gude and wife Glea of O'Neill, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter Helen in 1963; and siblings: Theodore Bernard Gude, Mary M. Gude, Evelyn M. Bro, Ruth E. Hohman, Helen L. Kreifels and Ralph E. Gude.
